Welcome to the website for submissions of research proposals to a SA Health Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) or Research Governance Officer/s. This website contains the NHMRC's Human Research Ethics Application Form (HREA). The Online Forms website also contains the SA Health Site Specific Assessment (SSA) Forms.
Before a human research project may commence within the SA public health system, it must have undergone the following:
- Review and approval by an ethical review body, constituted in accordance with the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007), such as an HREC; and
- Site-specific assessment by each site at which the research is to be conducted.
A research project cannot commence at a site within SA Health until it has received ethical approval and the SSA has been authorised by the appropriate delegate.
